A large compartment, two decks tall, that provides onboard access to the Ship's Launch, laid out to show the small ship both docked and absent.
Deck 8 - Upper Launch Bay: the compartment's upper area, framed by an open catwalk and overlooked by its Control Booth and Observation Lounges, is dominated by the docking davit, which extends to release and recover the Launch, and provides its umbilical connections. The compartment is surrounded by the Launch's support systems which provide fuel, power, and dedicated life support when docked.
Deck 9 - Launch Bay Floor: sharing much in common with a typical Shuttle Bay, its most distinctive feature is the protruding upper hull of the docked Launch itself, or the large hatch that seals the deck aperture when it is absent. Providing easy accessibility to the smaller craft's systems from the comfort of an enclosed compartment, the main floor of the Launch Bay also allows ease of access to the aft hatch of the Launch which is nestled between a pair of exhaust diverters for its impulse engines. The forward doors of the compartment connect to a ramp rising to Deck 8, providing a dramatic entrance and reveal for the Launch, and large compartment doors in the aft wall communicate via an axial corridor to lowest level of Main Engineering and the cargo holds situated between.
